Dr Venera Stancheva is a psychiatrist with a subspecialty in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She obtained her degree from the University of Witwatersrand Medical School, Johannesburg, South Africa. She has extensive experience in both public and private sector and was always actively involved in the academic training of registrars and fellows in Child Psychiatry.

Dr Stancheva has vast experience in diagnosing and treating different conditions in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Her areas of interest involve neurodevelopmental disorders, such as ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder and comorbidities, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, somatic symptom and related disorders. After working for many years in consultation liaison Child Psychiatry she developed specific interest in Child and Adolescent Neuropsychiatry (treating children with psychiatric conditions who also have a comorbid neurological disorder, such as Epilepsy, autoimmune neurological conditions and head injuries).

Dr Stancheva has a full registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and is an Affiliate of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry (RANZCP).
